Parenting While Healing: The Tender, Courageous Work of Raising Children While Rebuilding Yourself

I want to start this blog on parenting while healing because, truthfully, this has been one of the greatest challenges of my life.

Parenting is already a tender, stretching, soul‑shaping journey — but parenting while trying to unlearn old patterns, soothe old wounds, and rebuild parts of yourself you never had the chance to develop… that is a whole different kind of courage.

And I know I’m not alone.

So many of us — especially in this generation — are trying to raise our children with more gentleness, more awareness, more emotional safety than we ever received. We’re trying to give them tools we’re only just learning how to use ourselves. We’re trying to model emotional regulation while still figuring out what to do with our own triggers.

We’re teaching them about health, boundaries, self‑worth, and resilience while quietly realizing that no one ever taught those things to us.

It’s a strange, beautiful, exhausting dual journey:

Raising children while also raising ourselves.

Every day, we’re trying to give our kids the best opportunities, the best guidance, the best version of us — even on the days when we feel like we’re building that version from scratch.

We’re learning how to breathe through big feelings at the same time we’re teaching them to.
We’re learning how to nourish our bodies and minds while showing them how to care for theirs.
We’re trying to break cycles we didn’t ask for, while creating new ones rooted in safety, connection, and love.

Why I Created This Space

This blog is my way of creating a space for all of that — the messy middle, the breakthroughs, the setbacks, the tenderness, the truth.

A place where parents who are healing can feel seen, supported, and understood.
A place where we can talk honestly about what it means to guide our children while still learning how to guide ourselves.
A place where we can grow together.
